The Legend of Kim's Convenience

I made this when the first teaser poster for the Marvel movie "Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" came out. When I saw the original poster those big open rings looked so empty and inviting, I felt like it was a perfect opportunity to photoshop something inside them. Being a fan of Kim's Convenience as well, the connection between the two seemed like a no-brainer. When choosing the photos of all those other characters I did have in mind the kind of expression I wanted them to have based on their character and what sort of reaction they might have if they were to actually see Jung Kim in such an outfit.

To make the custom titles, I used an online font detector to find a font that was as close as possible to the original. The one for "JUNG KIM" wasn't free, so I took a screenshot of their font preview and simply traced over the characters I needed in photoshop to get the full title. after that it was just a little more photoshop magic to get the final product.

When I made this I didn't think people would react so strongly to it, but the fact that this was around the same time Kim's Convenience was cancelled made it more popular, to a point where Simu Liu himself tweeted it! https://twitter.com/SimuLiu/status/1384645540953030660
